Middleham was founded, 1684, as a chapel of ease in Christ Church parish and named for Middleham, Yorkshire, England. The site has been used for worship since the founding, but the chapel was rebuilt in 1748. The bell, given by John Holdsworth, is dated 1699.
Enjoy a piece of Southern Maryland history. Take some time and look around but please be respectful of the Church and cemetery grounds. Many of the headstones are very fragile due to their age and weathering.
Flat hard terrain, no thorns or poison ivy.
