Geocache Description:

Near the Te Huka power station

Commissioned in 2010, Te Huka geothermal power station delivers around 23 megawatts to the grid. That's enough renewable energy to power around 23,000 homes. At Te Huka power station, electricity is generated through a binary (organic rankine cycle) process. It is the first power station to be built on the Tauhara geothermal steamfield.

Additional information from TGC4
The station is powered by geothermal fluid transferring heat to nPentane via heat exchangers. The nPentane drives the turbines. The turbines are connected to generators capable of generating 23.4 MW of electricity.
The big structures are cooling fans that allow the nPentane to be returned to it's fluid state and thus being reused in the energy cycle.
The Pou on the other side of the entrance were carved by Delani Brown, a local master carver. If you have time go down town to look at the Waharoa on Tongariro Street. Another masterpiece.

The cache is a plastic screw top jar containg a log book and the usual trade items.
You do not need to climb any fences, or go through any gates to find this cache.
