Geocache Description:

This is an 35mm Film Cannister. Its a hard find and to make it harder - there's no clue!!!!

The Rising Sun Country Park is a 400 acre a green oasis located in the heart of the borough. Admission to the park is free. The park is open at all times every day of the year.

The wildlife within the Country Park is rich and diverse. The lake area is designated as a Local Nature Reserve. The habitats within the Park include grassland, woodland, pond, wetlands and a lake, there is a bird hide for keen bird watchers to use which overlooks the Swallow Pond.
For walkers, cyclists and horse riders there is an extensive network of footpaths and bridleways. Some of these paths are accessible for the disabled. However the site of this cache is not wheelchair accessible and buggies may struggle.

In 2005 the park was awarded the Green Flag award which is a nationally recognised quality mark for parks.

Part of the Park is on the former Rising Sun Colliery. The Colliery closed in 1969, which led to 1180 men being put out of work and 26 pit ponies being redundant.

Parking is provided within the Centre grounds; alternatively visitors can park in the ASDA car park and enjoy the short walk down the lane. This is advisable if a big event is on at the Centre. There are allocated disabled parking spaces beside the Countryside Centre. Please be aware that the visitors centre closes at dusk – so if you fancy a spot of night caching park at the supermarket which is 24 hours.

The site of this cache is at Dukes Pond, it can get boggy underfoot when there has been rain – so wear your wellies!

The visitors centre has toilets, a cafe and a great childrens play area.
