When I was a kid and slogging up Mt Robert to the skifield with my family, this little bit of the forested part of the Pinchgut track was a favourite spot of mine. It offered what to me (puffing and gasping) looked like a bit of flat ground, and when there was snow around, it looked like fairies could pop out from anywhere to entertain us. It had a kind of magical feeling about it, and to my family it was known as Fairy Dell.
