Vanishing Prince Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

FordG: I had planned on leaving the cache for people collecting cache placed dates and alphabet challenges, but considering the site is now due for maintenance for the next eighteen months, and my loss of enthusiasm for geocaching, it seems a sensible time to archive the cache for good.

Geocache Description:

This cache is a nano cache placed to commemorate the 2010 Leeds International Festival which ran from 4th November to 21st November 2010; the festival still runs each year. This is completely different to Bob Adam's City Nano Leeds Bridge as it is on the other side of the bridge.

On the 16th September 1890 Louis Le Prince boarded the 2:42 train to Paris at Dijon; he was never seen again. Louis Le Prince came to Leeds in 1866 to experiment in cinematography. In 1888 he patented a one lens camera which he used to film Leeds Bridge from an upstairs window of 19 Bridge End. These were probably the world's first successful moving picture. The film can viewed on Youtube. Le Prince was born in Metz, France. He moved to Leeds in 1866 and married here. In 1881 he moved to New York, returning to Leeds in 1887. The present bridge dates from 1730 and marks the western terminus of the Leeds and Calder Navigation. Please take care to replace the cache in the correct location so the clue makes sense.
