Geocache Description:

Overview:

This series of caches replaces the "Be A Good Sport" series, which I have archived. I've also archived and replaced the nearby "Eagle" cache. I recommend beginning at "The Sign" and either walking or biking the Sports Park caches in numerical order. Depending on the day of the week and the time of the day, you might be able to park right next to "The Sign". But, if it's a busy game day, parking can be challenging. If there are no games or practices scheduled, the lot won't be accessible between about 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
My goal when placing the caches was to give you a nice tour of the park without you having to trample vegetation or bushwhack in order to make the finds. The caches are not wheelchair-accessible, and you will need to bring a writing utensil.

#1 "The Sign" (GC2HH4N) starts you close to one of two signs welcoming you to the park. From there, you will go north toward the concession stand, passing through an inviting bench-lined promenade. Be sure to visit the west wall of the concession stand to see a pictorial display of Brea's history.

#2 "The Batting Cages" (GC2HH5J) will be tricky to find if the cages are occupied. Be sure to notice the working oil pumps directly ahead.
NOTE: ARCHIVED THIS UNPUBLISHED CACHE.

#3 "The Basketball Courts" (GC2HH5Y) always seem to be busy. You'll pass by two soccer/football fields on the way there. Use stealth and remember---no vegetation trampling!

#4 "The East Entrance" (GC2HHBZ) takes you to one of two vehicle entrances to the park. If the lots are closed for the night, there are 1 or 2 accessible parking spaces here.

#5 "Outfield View" (GC2HHC3) is near a nice little grassy knoll with a great view of one of the two baseball fields.

#6 "Softball/Soccer Field" (GC2HHC8) is near a field that also has served as home to Manny Toledo's Orange County Soccer Camp (a very popular summer youth program offered through the City of Brea Parks & Rec Dept).

#7 "The Valley" ( GC2HHCA) is a somewhat hidden but very serene little area which can be quite boggy at times. As you continue along the path toward it, look to the west and see the site of a new elementary school, scheduled to open in fall 2011.

**Continue west on Birch to my new Eagle Sequel cache (GC2HHCG).
