Geocache Description:

For a nice round trip hike, park at the coordinates listed under parking.

This two stage cache takes you on a 1 mile hike through the woods along the Beaverslide (pink) and Scout trails (blue & white). See trailhead coordinates below. The first stage will be a bison tube hanging in a shrub at about eye height. Grab the coordinates for the final and continue along the trail till the last 60 feet.

This cache is the third in a series of 5 invasive plant-themed caches placed around parks in Northern Virginia. You will also need to jot down the clue from each cache to find the final cache, Raiders of the Lost Park GC2JE3B

If you use the parking coordinates, proceed from there to the trailhead listed on this cache page. From here you will proceed along an established trail to stage one. Once you retrieve coordinates from stage one, continue along the same trail to the final stage. You will have walked a nice loop. The final is not far off the trail.

Russian olives and autumn olives are related cousins. The name of this cache was chosen to emphasize the 'foreign' nature of all plants in the series as they all come from other continents other than North America.

Both are invasive and were introduced into this country in 1830 from Asia as erosion control and food for wildlife. These species have escaped and take over abandoned fields, edges of forests and squeeze out native flora.

Raiders of the Lost Park GC2JE3B! Remember, it's all about the journey...
