Harlem Hills Travel Bug Rest Area Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

RebelGTP: Well, this one had a good run and unfortunately, the runaround I'm getting translates to "we don't want a cache there" so it is with sadness that I am archiving this one. The time is right because of the opening of a newer and shinier TB Hotel down the road. The container will be returning in the future at another location.

Thanks to all who visited.

Geocache Description:

Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me!
As a gift, I give a cache you see?
A greater gift for you to find,
it gives me greatest peace of mind!
So go out and find the tree,
and let some TB go free!

RebelGTP - 11/15/2010

This is a Birthday Celebration Cache. I placed this cache in celebration of my birthday on November 15th 2010.

IF YOU TAKE A TRACKABLE FROM THIS CACHE, PLEASE BE CONSIDERATE TO THE TRACKABLE'S OWNER AND LOG THAT YOU HAVE IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!
Please also note that you dropped or took a trackable in the cache logbook regardless of whether you have visited here previously or not. This reduces some of the questions regarding where a trackable is that is listed to be in here.
Thanks!!!

My thanks go out to my Mother who traded me this container for an official Groundspeak Geocaching Bison Tube. I hope that the bison tube works well for her first cache when she places it!

Directions Help: Quick and easy exit and re-entry to I-39/90 in both directions, but you will have to pay toll to go South (Eastbound) and exiting North (Westbound). The toll is $0.60 for non-I-Pass and $0.30 for I-Pass. Change and I-Pass are the only thing accepted at the toll, No Attendant on Duty. Drive and park on the paved lane but do not go North of the Gate... No need to anyways... When making a turn back out onto IL Route 173, be aware that the stoplight for this lane is not active. Cross traffic does not stop.

Cache Information: Pretty straightforward hide on an undeveloped plat of land. Container is a Cammoed Rubbermaid "Lock&Lock" type container. Some small trade items are in the cache so while the adults trade trackables, the children can trade swag.
I spotted a Deer Stand in a tree to the North in the treeline. It looks like it faces Northwest on the other side of the treeline from the lane but pay close attention to it anyways. Please do not climb into it either. Please keep this cache concealed as best as it can be!

While you are in the area, check out a trio of excellent hiking caches with Regular-sized containers in Rock Cut State Park on the other side of IL Route 173 from this cache.
Those caches are:
Rock Cut Cache
ROCKFORD & KENOSHA R.R.
Our First Stash

WINTER INFORMATION:
Being that the lane that I mentioned is not being used for anything at the moment, it is not plowed in the Winter. If you visit this cache and there is snow on the lane, be careful if you park on IL 173. This road is heavily traveled during certain periods during daytime hours.

Congrats to Jen*Jen for FTF!!!
