St Oswald Mission
The history and fortunes of this little mission church have changed over the years to reflect the change in Flushdyke itself. Once a sister church of Holy Trinity, I remember attending the monthly services as a child as well as all the social functions of the village around: harvest suppers, whist drives and jumble sales. At one point, it became an overspill classroom for Flushdyke Junior School further up the road and I recall being taught my final year there before moving to the new comprehensive at South Ossett. Since then it has been a heating engineers, an antiques shop, a nursery and a school room. The adjacent park appears to have had a plaque at some point, but now it is sadly missing. It would be interesting to know what it once read.

Thanks to (visit link) – a brilliant site about the history of Ossett
