Geocache Description:

In the old days, the transport route from the old Cape Town to Stellenbosch tracked the southern side of the Bottelary Hills. It is likely that this spot was often a camp-site for travellers on their way to Stellenbosch. I can just imagine the view from here on the swamps of the Cape Flats. Even today this is a spectacular sight.

The coordinates given is a place where one can park safely off the M12 and is not where the cache has been placed. It is not advisable to park next to the road.

I did not have a GPS with me when I placed this cache. Luckily it was on the 22 September and it was close to noon. I knew that the sun was on the equator and the sky was clear. I then subsequently started taking measurements of the angle of the sun above true horizon. The measurements were as follows.

12:42 - 55.5586 degrees
12:44 - 55.8693 degrees
12:46 - 55.8926 degrees
12:48 - 55.5752 degrees

Consider the following.
a. The times are South African time which is GMT+2
b. While this is not fully technically true, you can assume that the mappings between different times are linear
c. The angle-measurements were made in decimal fractions of degrees (not minutes)

With a little bit of effort, it is possible to calculate the exact coordinates to find the cache. Please note, to ensure sufficient accuracy of the coordinates, you will have to do the calculations to at least six significant numbers.
