There are no trenches, machine-gun nests, or barbed-wire barriers to prevent anyone from getting here...it's just a section of the Highlands Trail between two major roads, that didn't seem to be used much, and was perhaps without a cache. This is a nice, family-friendly section of the HT between Macopin and Otterhole Roads, with the shortest & easiest trail access to the cache being from Macopin Road.
From the trailhead (near the intersection of Macopin & Maple Roads) it is about a .75 mile walk through fairly level terrain along a clearly marked & well maintained trail. Roadside parking is available along Macopin Rd. near the trailhead. The distance from Otterhole Rd. is about 1.8 miles, and parking is more limited.
Sections of this trail run through Newark Watershed property, so a NWCDC Permit is required.
The cache is a medium size lock & lock type, containing a log & assorted trinkets.
The cache was originally placed on behalf of the Maple Road School Cub Scout Pack #141 at the request of one of their members...Go Scouts!
