The Midas Touch Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

robertburnsandpeigi: This is a shame.
Obvously, with this being a two part multi I cannot replace this cache in the same spot.
It is the worst muggling I have encountered.
My sincere apologies to all the owners of the travel bugs which had taken up residence here.

Geocache Description:

A Travel Bug and Coin Hotel.

A one stop multi with the cache very near to the posted co-ordinates and the waypoint.

The co-ords on the cache page are for suggested parking. A short walk from here will take you to the first ( and only ) waypoint where you will find the co-ordinates for the final cache.
You will then be rewarded with a treasure chest, if not full of gold, then full of travel bugs and coins.

King Midas, as you are no doubt aware is credited with the myth that everything he touched turned to gold.

Bacchus found his old schoolmaster and foster father, the satyr Silenus, missing.
The old satyr had been drinking wine and had wandered away, later to be found by some Phrygian peasants, who carried him to their king, Midas, who recognized him and treated him hospitably, entertaining him for ten days and nights with politeness, while Silenus delighted Midas and his friends with stories and songs.

On the eleventh day, Midas brought Silenus back to Bacchus in Lydia. Bacchus offered Midas his choice of whatever reward he wished for. Midas asked that whatever he might touch should be changed into gold.

Midas rejoiced in his new power, which he hastened to put to the test. He touched an oak twig and a stone; both turned to gold.

Overjoyed, as soon as he got home, he ordered the servants to set a feast on the table. So Midas, King of Lydia, swelled at first with pride when he found he could transform everything he touched to gold; but when he beheld his food grow rigid and his drink harden into golden ice then he understood that this gift was a bane and in his loathing for gold, cursed his prayer.

Now, Midas hated the gift he had coveted. He prayed to Bacchus, begging to be delivered from starvation. Bacchus heard, and consented; he told Midas to wash in the river Pactolus.

Midas did so, and when he touched the waters, the power flowed into the river, and the river sands turned into gold.
