In this series I combine my love of geo-caching and useless movie trivia.

In this 1936 film, (remade in 1957), starring William Powell and the magnetic Carole Lombard, a young socialite picks a vagrant for a "scavenger hunt." Lombard states "Well, a scavenger hunt is exactly like a treasure hunt, except in a treasure hunt you try to find something you want and in a scavenger hunt, you try to find something that nobody wants." Sound familiar??

William Powell and Carol Lombard had been married and divorced before this movie was shot.

This movie is all about deception. Things are not what they seem to be.

Powell was said to have the market cornered on depression era leading men dispite his barbed personality.

This was the first film to ever receive four acting nominations at the Academy Awards, and it did so in the year that the supporting categories were introduced.

In 1999, this film was deemed "culturally significant" by the United States Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry.
