While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever.

Nothing seems to happen with this cache listing, so it is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

(This reviewer note is in English so non-Norwegian cache owners, geocachers and cache reviewers can understand what it says.)

Sagatun startet som en liten bensinstasjon tidlig på 1960-tallet. Etter hvert som biltrafikken økte, vokste bensinstasjonen til en romslig kafé under Nora Wollbekks ledelse. I løpet av 1970 og 1980-årene var det stor trafikk på Sagatun. Spesielt i helgene var det fullt av folk. Kafeen hadde opp til 18 ansatte og hadde lang åpningstid.

Men i 2005 ble det bygget ny motorvei som går utenom Sagatun og da ble det brått slutt. Kafégjestene forsvant så å si over natten.. Man prøvde å legge om driften ved å satse på selskap og andre arrangement, blant annet var det en del pop- og country-konserter og dansekvelder. Men etter et par års tid ble Sagatun kafé nedlagt. ?

Stedet har senere vært forsøkt solgt, men uten at det har ført til noe. Nå planlegger eieren, Øyvind Wollbekk å ominnrede kafébygningen til leiligheter. Han har søkt kommunen om bruksendring og det ser ut til at han får tillatelse til å lage syv leiligheter der. Arbeidet vil bli startet når de formelle tillatelser foreligger.

Det har vært lite boligbygging i Skoger de siste årene og leilighetene i kafeen kan vises seg å være ettertraktet.

I dag ser det hele ut som et søppeldepot.

Sagatun started up as a petrol station in the early 60´s. As the car traffic increased the petrol station grew into a large cafe under the management of Nora Wollbekks. During the 70´s and the 80´s Sagatun was a busy place, especially in the weekends. The cafe had on the top 18 employees.

In 2005 the new highway where built, and when the cars no longer came passing by the cafe had no chance of survival. They tried to arrange pop and country concerts and dance, but after two years the café was shut down.

The place now is in the process of being changed to housing units, but at present it looks like a dumping area for garbage.
