2/10/2017: Trail closed - Per the Bonneville Trails Foundation, the Dick Thomas Trailhead has been closed to public access. Access to Table Mountain is only via the Bonneville Trailhead
We were recently up by Table Mtn doing cache maintenance. Now one can’t do cache maintenance without going after a cache or placing a new cache. This time we did both. Chubby forest monkey had told me about her new cache, Cedar Mountain. Looking at the map I realized that the unnamed ridge CFM talked about was where we camp when we go to Table Mtn. There is a boot trail south of Westway trail junction. We took this trail and backtracked to the cache and then out to where the trail meets the road going up to Aldrich Butte. This is where we placed the cache.
The point of this cache is to get a few people to come out and enjoy the great outdoors. The Table Mtn area is one of my favorite areas to go hiking, camping. There are lots of trails to explore, creeks to cross, views to enjoy and caches to find. If you do the loop right you can pick up 5 caches and around six miles of some great forest. So come on out and go for a hike. Oh and by the way at least on my map the unnamed ridge has a name, its “CFM Ridge”.
Now for my two cents about the great outdoors, tell someone where you are going and when you will be back, don’t forget your outdoor essentials, if you pack it in, pack it out. Be safe and we'll all have a good time.
