Geocache Description:

This cache is placed to honor the life and works of F. Scott Fitzgerald (1896-1940), the American writer most closely identified with the "Jazz Age," and whose most famous work is "The Great Gatsby."

A son of St. Paul, Minnesota, Fitzgerald grew up in a modest home on Summit Avenue, close to the mansions of James J. Hill and others. The excesses of the 1920s and the relentless pursuit of the American Dream is best exemplified in "The Great Gatsby," which is still one of the most-read books in American high schools.

This cache is in the relatively unvisited southeast corner of Purgatory Park, but the game trails are well-worn and easy to navigate. Barred and Great Horned owls are frequently heard in this part of the park. Getting to this cache will be fun for kids and pets.
