Geocache Description:

Bryant Lake (Tarn) is a very beautiful and lonely place, not often visited. It is one of the few bodies of water in the Fisher Mountain Range. To see the lake requires a hike of 15 kms (return) with an elevation gain of about 300 m. Most of the route is on open rocky valley bottoms with sketchy trails, with the final 1.5 kms consisting of; firstly a rough steep trail through dense forest and then open alpine benches, to the lake basin.

BRYANT LAKE

Directions

  1. Park on Powderface Trail at WP001 ( Powderface Trail is closed at Elbow Falls annually from Dec 1 to May 14)
  2. Hike up the Canyon Creek floodplain to WP002,
  3. Turn north into side valley and hike to WP003,
  4. Take the left canyon and head for WP004,
  5. Turn left at WP004 and start up the steep rough trail though dense forest towards the cache.

The Cache

The cache is a camo painted 500ml Lock and Lock. It is hidden at the base of a large tree under a flat rock. The challenge for this caching adventure is the hike, not the search for the container. There is a FTF reward, plus a card as well as finder's cards for the next 16 cachers (should last about 10 years )

Warnings and Cautions

  1. The Powderface Trail is closed annually from Dec1 to May14 between Elbow Falls and Dawson PRA making access to the cache very difficult during that period.
  2. Access to the cache in times of heavy snow load is not advised nor recommended due to significant avalanche risk.
  3. Access to this cache would be difficult during high water conditions.
  4. The hike to this cache is moderately strenuous, is not on formal trails, is rough and rocky and has navigational challenges, go properly equipped, be prepared and be bear / cougar aware!

And mountain man extraordinaire AceForceOne gets the FTF, congratulations!
