Geocache Description:

Cache placed by kind permission og the Rev Daffydd Robinson

St Thomas of Canterbury church lies in the small village of Mumby (population 400.)
The church has been in existence for several centuries, though the current version was restored in 1843.
Mumby came into being during the ninth century when land was granted to the viking "Mund". It is recorded in the 1081 Domesday book.
In the churchyard lies the superbly named "Rehoboth Robison", 1832 - 1907.
Born in Mumby, Rehoboth went to sea at the age of 13. During his lifetime he transported rum, searched for survivors of Sir John Franklin's expedition, was a ships master, transported stores to troops in Crimea. He served on over 100 ships and was wrecked 9 times.
He rose from cabin boy to ship owner.

Please read the note on the doors of the church. I challenge you not to smile.
