Geocache Description:

Lock-n-lock not too far from parking.

This cache placement does two things:

  • it fulfills the requirements for claiming a find on GC14FY5 Flash In A Cache which requires taking a flash card and creating a cache based on the flash card.
  • secondly it commemorates the now-archived GCY352 Hamlet cache that was the seventh cache we found..back in 2006. The Hamlet cache was part of the incredible Shakespeare Caches series. At the time of this listing the series is slowly being archived but if you're quick you might be able to still find some of the great caches that are part of the series.

We tried to work both the flash card taken and the Hamlet cache into the cache name, although once you see the container and the flash card inside you'll see we took a bit of license. :)

The cache is in a small public park that isn't well known. To quote from the original Hamlet cache (following text credit to muchado):

This is a great little park that few people know about. Like Hamlet, you'll be pressed to find the truth and full of self-doubt as to how to get to the truth.

The park is not identified. It looks like there is a sign post for its name, but no sign. The park looks very small with a small pond where you can sight waterfowl at times. However, if you explore deeper, you'll find that there is more to this park than first meets the eye.

The cache is only about 25 feet from the trail - very little bushwhacking is necessary. However, you may doubt yourself as the some parts of the trail are overgrown or marshy. When in doubt, follow the signs. If you follow the trail, you will eventually find yourself near the cache. I hope you enjoy discovering this little gem of a park.

The Cache

  • This is a Bedford park - it is closed dusk to dawn.

  • Parts of the trail can be wet during wet weather - dress accordingly.

  • This trail passes through some delicate growth - please tread lightly.

  • Late May through late June is a great time to visit - the abundant Mountain Laurel is in bloom.

  • Please visit the entire loop. It's only about 1/4 mile total, but it's a worthwhile tour of a unique ecosystem in this area.

We hope you enjoy the hunt.

Note: I used two GPSr units and averaged for 200+ times with an accuracy of 9-10ft. The coordinates that I didn't use had the north as +.003 and west as +.001 as compared to the coordinates I used above. I'd be interested in your coordinates if you find they are more accurate.
