Reaching the rank of Eagle
Scout in the Boy Scouts of America requires years of dedication and
hard work. In addition to 21 required merit badges, each Scout must
complete a project that — on average — requires 167
service hours. In 2008 alone, that translated to $16 million in
service (based on the national volunteer hour value of
$19.51).
This cache is part of a
nationwide Geocaching series called ―"Cache to Eagle" that
showcases these special contributions. In Whatcom County
there are 12 caches that are part of this series. Those that
find all twelve of the Whatcom County Cache to Eagle geocaches
qualify for a special Boy Scout Patch. Each Whatcom County
geocache will have one of the points of the scout law written on
the lid or the log book. To qualify for the patch please send
an email to soilsqueezer@yahoo.com with a
list of all twelve caches and the associated point of the scout
law, your name and troop number. I will place your patch in
your troop's mailbox at the scout office or send it to you via mail
if you are not part of the Mount Baker
Council.
