Geocache Description:

This geocache is placed at the end of the "Baker Trail / North Country Trail Turnpike"

This cache is located along the North Country Trail / Baker Trail. From the parking lot you will travel along the Baker Trail / North Country Trail. After about a 1/4 mile you will travel the last 300 feet to the cache along a turnpike built in just under 7 hours on November 6, 2010 by a work crew of 20 people from the Keystone Trail Association, the Clarion County Chapter of the North Country Trail Association & the Rachel Carson Trails Conservancy.

This turnpike raises the trail above the swampy ground underneath. This section of trail was nearly impassible in very wet periods and unpleasant most other times. Rerouting around this wet section was nearly impossible, requiring this project.

This cache was placed in honor of the trail work session when this turnpike was created. It was a very impressive example of a group of people getting together to improve a section of long distance hiking trail.

If you continue further, there are 2 more geocaches along this section of trail.

Enjoy the hunt and please remember that hunting does happen in these woods so remember to wear orange for your own safety during all hunting seasons.

Congratulations to HOOTnOWL for the first to find.
