Geocache Description:

Had to come to the park for cache maintenance, so of course we brought more caches to add to the series.

This is a Johnson County Parks & Recreation District park located in western Johnson County between De Soto and Olathe. It is the newest and third regional park in the District’s system. Opened in 2001, the park, easily accessible and yet secluded, encompasses 884 acres. Nestled within the park's beautiful natural setting are four picnic shelters, a swimming beach, a marina, and 17 miles of trails including hiking, mountain bike and equestrian trails and an asphalt trail for walking, hiking and bicycling. All of these caches are placed with District permission and comply with District guidelines. Park hours are 5am to 11pm for March through October and 7:30am to 8pm for November through February.

The Kill Creek Park entrance is located near 116th and Homestead Lane. To get to the park, get off of Kansas Highway 10 at the Kill Creek exit and proceed south to 115th Street. Turn right and go to Homestead Lane. Take a left onto Homestead and the park entrance is on the right near the crest of the first hill. Note: the west side of the park borders the old Sunflower Ammunition Plant. Despite what the maps and satellite pictures show, there is no access from that side. The adjacent Timber Ridge Adventure Center is for program use only and no caches are located on those grounds. All of the caches in this series are located near walking, hiking, mountain biking or horse trails.

Ticks will definitely be abundant come warm weather. PI and snakes may also be around.

This cache is a camo'd canister hidden along a mountain bike trail. Please be sure to hide it well, or the muggles will spot it and we will lose it again. The nearest parking for this cache would be the Shelter 1 parking lot.
