I was deep in Marks Canyon going after a couple of tough caches.
It was raining and I had lost the overgrown trail. I was about to
panic and then I hear my cell phone ring! Huh? I didn't think I had
reception in the canyon. I quickly answer and hear a familiar and
soothing voice of RoanQ. I was practically giddy with happiness to
talk to her because I was scared, cold, and lost.
You see, RoanQ has hiked all over Toro County Park and she also
has completed Toro Hall of Fame. So, she's familiar with the trails
and knows the caches. One of the most perfect persons to talk to
when in a caching jam. I explain where I sort of was and she calmly
gives me a pep talk and for some reason told me to go up. Let me
remind you, I haven't see a trail in some time and I was
bushwhacking to where I thought I should be heading (according to
my gps).
After hanging up I look around me to reassess my situation and
decide to follow RoanQ's advice. I bushwhack up about 30 feet and
what do I see? The overgrown trail! How she knew I needed to go up
I will never know but she is an angel to me for getting me out of a
bad situation.
This cache is to say thank you to RoanQ for calling and giving
me advice when I needed it the most.
Don't forget to bring a writing stick.
