A nice family friendly cache in the recently developed Arch Hill Scenic Reserve.
In May 2010 a series of Mountain Bike trails were officially opened in the Arch Hill Scenic Reserve.
The tracks are the brainchild of the Auckland Mountain Bike Club and the Auckland City Council, both of which worked together on the trail design to make sure they were suitable for beginner and advanced riders.
The lower loop is called ‘Training Wheels’ and is about 600m long. The upper loop utilises more of the steep terrain to produce some great riding, is approx. 1.1 km long and is called ‘Twist and Shout’.
The park also has a walking path for those people who prefer a more sedate pace as they hunt the cache down.
To make this cache safely accessible without the worry of being taken out by a mountain bike traveling at full speed the cache has been placed a short distance from beginner's bike track and can be safely accessed by walking (or riding) across the wide open park from the car park on Ivanhoe Road. Keep an eye on any wandering kiddies though just to be safe.
The reserve is also home to three other caches; AMJC10 Arch Hill, BMX goes to the next level , Arch Hill--with a twist and Cache here?---No Way! (Auckland) which makes for a nice walk or ride if you're in the area.
Someone has replaced the original container and the cat that lived within with something else, and it's just too unique to swap back again so enjoy (you won't find a cat now though).
You are looking for a unnecessarily camo'd red bull container which has enough room for a pencil and the log sheet.
And a small cat (Permanently attached).
