Phloen Chit BTS Station
A very old part of town that is becoming very new. The old British Embassy compound is on the intersection of Phloen Chit and Wireless Roads. Check out the huge cement cannon there pointing into the ground.
Wireless Road was named such not because it lacks wires, power and telephone which are all above ground but because in the days of old pre GPS and mobiles it was the location of the wireless station. Along the road also used to be most of the worlds embassies but now with the cost of land many have moved into buildings. The US Embassy is huge with three compounds. The Ambassadors residence is oh so beautiful with huge gardens and a few wooden structures. The old embassy which is used for councilor services is on the opposite side of the road from the new huge fortress that was built maybe ten years back.
Sadly the big vast empty lot, Pleonchit Arcade was cleared out probably 10 years ago to make way for another monster shopping arcade/building that never got anywhere. Would make a lovely park.
