| Six Hundred ThirtySeventh in the Famous People (FP) Series - Peter Kreil |
 |
Even though the Lone Star Brewery was built in 1884 in San Antonio, it wasn't until 1940 that Peter Kreil from Munich created the formula for the first beer to actually be called Lone Star beer. It was marketed as "The National Beer of Texas."
Olympia Brewing Co. bought Lone Star in 1976 and it changed hands again in 1983 when G. Heileman bought Olympia.
Stroh Brewery Co. then bought Heileman and closed the San Antonio brewery in 1996 moving beer production to Longview.
Pabst bought most of the Stroh brands, including Lone Star, in 1999, and began brewing Lone Star at the San Antonio Pearl Brewery.
Lone Star Beer caps each had a simple little puzzle on the inside like the one on this page. Try your hand at a few of the other puzzles: Lone Star Bottle Cap Puzzles
Lone Star Cemetery hosts this simple 3 step cache that ends with a bison tube hiding in a nice little spot. Answer the question at each of the two stages to arrive at the final.
