A nice little trail off the main thoroughfare. We are still closing in on the coords, but the cache is hidden west of the Interurban along a little dirt path
For 100 years, the Boy Scouts of America has helped youth become more than they ever thought possible. And we’ll continue that journey into the next century.
Action! Boy Scouts: The Boy Scout program in the US began in 1910 and currently is open to boys ages 11-18. Boys learn and grow through the experiences of camping, hiking, building projects, and community service. Scouting fosters self-esteem, a sense of value and belonging, a sense of accountability, and teamwork. It’s also a lot of fun! The skills learned in Scouting help young men overcome obstacles and challenges with courage and character throughout their lives. Geocaching offers a new opportunity for the Boy Scouts to experience the outdoors while honing their Scouting skills. This cache is placed in honor of all young people in hopes that they will also take this opportunity to enjoy the outdoors.
Boy Scouting is near and dear to my heart, I am a third generation boy scout and my sons are actively involved also. I have served in various roles, including Scoutmaster, for most of the last 15 years. We try to have an outdoor activity once a month that range from backpacking, canoeing, biking, and camping. By the time the wet winter months roll around, I am burnt out and ready for a bit of a break. It is nice to have a great trail system like the Interurban to provide an easy outdoor hike or bike ride, you know a “gimme activity”. There aren’t a bunch of caches hidden along this stretch of the Interurban, so here is another excuse to get outdoors with your troop, pack, or family. This cache is located off a side trail from the main interurban. Satellite coverage was decent, but things might get dicey in the spring when the leaves return.
