Peter Mayr:

Tiroler Freiheitskämpfer, * 15.8.1767 Siffian bei Bozen, † (erschossen) 20.2.1810 Bozen.

Deutsch:
Mayr erwarb am 8.11.1804 das Gasthaus an der Mahr an der Brennerstraße südlich von Brixen. Wie viele Wirte in Tirol, spielte auch Mayr eine bedeutende Rolle beim Freiheitskampf gegen das Napoleonische Frankreich und seine Satelliten.
Nach Tirols Einverleibung zum Kgr. Bayern wurde sein Gasthaus zu einem Treffpunkt der mit den neuen politischen Verhältnissen unzufriedenen Tiroler. Im Schmiedhäusl hinter seinem Gasthof fanden geheime Zusammenkünfte statt, u. a. am 25.11.1807 unter Führung Andreas Hofers der sog. "Bauernkonvent"
Ein Kriegsgericht verurteilte Mayr am 14.2. zum Tode.
Das Urteil wurde am 20.2.1810, dem Todestag Andreas Hofers, unweit der heutigen Talferbrücke vollstreckt. Der Leichnam wurde auf dem Bozner Friedhof bei der Propsteikirche beigesetzt.

English:
Peter Mayr acquired on 11.08.1804 the guest house of the Mahr at the Brenner road south of Bressanone. How many hosts in Tyrol, Mayr also played an important role in the freedom struggle against Napoleonic France and its satellites.
After incorporation of the Tyrol to Bavarias Kingdom his guest house became a meeting place for the new Tyrolean dissatisfied with the political situation. In "Schmiedhäusl" behind his inn were held secret meetings, including on 25/11/1807, led by Andreas Hofer's the so-called "farmer's Convention"
A court martial sentenced Mayr on 14.2. to death.
The sentence was on 2/20/1810, the date of death of Andreas Hofer, enforced close of today's "Talferbrücke". The body was buried in the graveyard at the Bolzano "Propsteikirche".

Beim "Wirt von der Mahr" kann man sehr gut und günstig essen. Ich nutze den "Wirt an der Mahr" gerne als Station vor der Heimfahrt.
At the hostelry "Wirt an der Mahr" you can eat very good and cheap. I use the "Wirt an der Mahr" as station on the journey home.
