Cool Stop for a Cool (Easy) Cache - Redux Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

GeoRedheads: I hike on the trail next to this one on a regular basis, and while it’s still apparently there, the neighborhood has changed a lot now that the “leaves of 3” have moved in.

Gonna spare someone the agony of chasing…

Geocache Description:

Nice easy cache in a nice shady spot along the Castle Rock trail.

Sadly, we retired Cool Stop for a Cool Cache back in September, after it's 18 month long life in the CastleRock wilderness. CSCC was one of the devlish-caches, designed and implemented by GRH1 and GRH3, intended to be truly nasty. And, in order to get it to work properly, it needed to be hidden fairly deep in the woods, in nice shady areas.

It was found by 2 cachers total, Mathgen and Alamogul. Several others posted DNF's against it, and we checked it several times between those posts, and it was still there. It was just nasty.

However, not everyone liked this. As Mathgen once told me, "if you're going to hide something a couple of miles in, you can't make it a 4 star difficulty; people have worked too hard to get to a location, and get frustrated during the find." That frustration was shared in the logs as well, as it was clear that it was not only frustrating cachers, but that new cachers were also avoiding it.

In the end, it needed to retire. RIP. It has been resurrected in a new location as a new GeoRedhead cache, using the same camo, hiding technique. And interestingly enough, as of Nov 10 2010, it has only been found by Mathgen and Alamogul.

Cool Stop for a Cool Cache is in pretty much the same exact location, but it an easy to find large plastic container. The only thing difficult about this cache location is that it is well sheltered by trees, so getting a specific lock from your GPS will be difficult. During the spring, there will be some PO in the area, but you should be clear in this specific hide location.

Be diligent, it's there - we promise!
