During the peak period of caravan travel many holiday makers travel across the Carnarvon Range going either to the Carnarvon George or travelling north or south directions. This is an all weather road so travel is really non stop. This caravan free stop is a wonderful place to rest or over night stay.
25 Kilometers in, on the cliff line the cattle duffers (thieves) drove stolen cattle in to a box canyon. They erected a fence out of rocks and fallen logs across the enterance. They then drafted the clean skins off to the rear and chased the mothers to the cliff edge. They scared them into running over the cliff edge that was as smooth as polished glass. This went on from 1915 to 1940.
