Geocache Description:

CORNWALL`S FIRST "CHIRP" CACHE.
(Hidden on The Saints Way, heading from Fowey towards Polkerris)

This geocache requires the use of a "Chirp" compatible GPS receiver. It makes use of a wireless beacon which transmits coordinates & clues directly to compatible GPS devices.
At present, only a limited number of handsets are compatible, you may also need to upgrade the software version on your unit.
Check with this link - (visit link)

NEITHER THE CACHE OR THE BEACON IS AT THE COORDINATES ABOVE, they mark the start of a footpath on the edge of Fowey. Take the narrow path between the 5-bar gate & the high conifer hedge, following it down into the little valley. Say "hello" to the pigs, then continue under the low stone bridge & up the track beyond. Walk into a little hollow just below the right hand side of the path (& just before you reach the steps over the wall). Pause here and the beacon should announce its presence & guide you to the final hiding place . The cache has now been replaced with a small plastic tube.

ALTERNATIVE METHOD. This requires an NFC enabled Android smartphone. Follow the same narrow path down into the valley. Just before the path passes under the low stone bridge you will stop at a fence with metal gates in it. One of the wood posts facing you has a direction arrow near the top. Scan this with your phone, there is an NFC tag hidden behind it. The phone should read the coordinates and a clue.

GOOD LUCK!
