Questa cache è stata nascosta in una zona poco conosciuta e ancor meno visitata di Venezia conosciuta con il nome di "Baia del Re".

La Sacca San Girolamo è meglio conosciuta a Venezia come “Baia del Re”. Tristemente nota in passato per la fama tutt’altro che raccomandabile di taluni suoi residenti, la Baia del Re si può considerare oggigiorno pienamente recuperata grazie, oltre che ai tempi radicalmente mutati, a tutta una serie di opportuni interventi di riqualificazione attuati nel corso degli anni, che l’hanno resa una zona residenziale tra le più vivibili e ambite della città.

Sul perché Sacca San Girolamo sia stata soprannominata Baia del Re esistono numerose versioni, la più attendibile delle quali pare essere tuttavia quella secondo cui essa sarebbe stata soprannominata in tale modo, parecchi anni addietro, dagli operai addetti alla costruzione del vicino Ponte del Littorio(oggi della Libertà), che lì avevano le loro baracche, per l’eccezionale freddo che vi faceva, non solo a causa della sua posizione periferica confinante con la Laguna, ma anche degli inverni particolarmente rigidi di quegli anni. E paragonabile ai loro occhi, per certi versi, al freddo polare della Baia del Re, nelle Isole Svalbard, di cui parlavano spesso i giornali di allora, in seguito al fatto che il generale Umberto Nobile vi aveva posto il suo “campo base” per la spedizione al Polo Nord che si accingeva a intraprendere con il suo dirigibile “Italia”.

E' infatti una zona bellissima da cui godere stupende vedute della laguna nord e ovest; fresca d'estate e caratteristica d'inverno.
Ottima per rilassarsi sedendosi su una delle numerose panchine posizionate lungo la riva.

Avrete infine la possibilità di vedere una delle poche stazioni di benzina per barche presenti a Venezia!

Potete arrivarci a piedi oppure scendendo alla fermata "Tre Archi" se preferite prendere il battello.

The Sacca San Girolamo in Venice is best known as "King's Bay." Sadly well known in the past for the bad reputation of some people who lived there, the King's Bay can be considered fully recovered by now, as well as the times changed radically, but also through a range of appropriate rehabilitation projects implemented over the years which made it a very liveable residential area.

Why Sacca San Girolamo was nicknamed King's Bay there are several versions; the most reliable of which seems to be that it was dubbed in this way, several years ago, by the workers involved in the construction of the nearby Ponte Littorio (now Liberty Bridge), who had their barracks there. Due to the exceptional cold that did, not only because of its peripheral location adjacent to the Laguna, but also for very cold winters of those years, they compared to their eyes, in some ways, the bitter cold of King's Bay, in Svalbard Islands, of which they spoke often reading the newspapers which told about the fact that General Umberto Nobile had placed his "base camp" for the North Pole expedition (that was about to undertake with his airship "Italy") exactly in Kings' Bay.

It's in fact a beautiful area from which to enjoy stunning views of the lagoon north and west, cool in summer and particular in winter.
Excellent to relax sitting on one of the many benches placed along the shore.

You will finally be able to see one of the few gas stations for boats in Venice!

You can reach it by walk or hopping off at "Tre Archi" waterbus stop.
