Geocache Description:

The coordinates will take you to the delightfully landscaped Tussock Square on the Main Street in Darfield.

This cache replaces Tussock Square traditional cache GCYA1X.

This one is a quick multi. The final location is within the Square.

A wall has been erected with information plaques out-linning the history of the area. Your task is to read the plaques to find the clues for the final coordinates.

While you are here why not enjoy the childrens playground or have a picnic stop or as they said in days gone by enjoy a "smoko stop" A reference to boiling the billy or thermet for a cup of tea as much as lighting up a pipe or cigarette

The clues can be found on just five of the many plaques.

Tussock Square occupies the site previously occupied by Darfields first Hall. It was built in 19A6 as a memorial to the soldiers who died in the Boer War, World War 1 and later World War11. It served the community well for many years until in 198B it was demolished.

18C4 The township had its origins when the Midland Railway line crossed the plains. Originally named White Cliffs Junction, it became Horndon Junction in 187D and finally Darfield in 1879

Queen Elizabeth visited Darfield 19E4

Laden thick with rain or hail
First from the sou'-west blows a piercer
Then veers nor'-west and blows fiercer"
