Nice easy cache and dash. Parking on road nearby. The hospital is no longer there there please see notes.
You are looking for a small tube containing a log and small pencil. The flats now called Clovelly Court just N of the cache, stand on the site of the old Greasby Fever Hospital.
It was built in 1879 at a cost of £1666 and had just 8 beds.
The hospital dealt with many fevers but mainly Smallpox.
In 1941 it became Greasby's Library and I remember spending many hours in the library as a small boy, (and a few kisses round the back of it as a youth.) There are some photos to see. The front part of the building was the Nurses home. and the rear the hospital.
It was finally demolished in 1987, one year after the new library opened opposite the shops, and the flats were built soon afterwards. Congratulations to Wirral Wallaces for the FTF
Thanks to Greasby Library and Jim O'Neil for photos and information.
