The coordinates given are not those of the cache due to the proximity of GC27TNX (‘Aldridge Parish 1’ by The Five Beans). Instead they will take you to Aldridge War Memorial where there are some clues to solve and thus determine the actual cache location which is not far away. Parking and all answers are to be found in the vicinity of the memorial.
Please be very careful near the roads which can be particularly busy at the start and end of school. Geokids should be supervised. There is a pedestrian-controlled crossing nearby if it should be needed. Wheelchair access should not be a problem.
The cache is not available 24/7 as darkness will make it difficult to solve one of the clues (although some detective work might get round this problem!)
Clues:
- In 19PR Aldridge Local History Society commemorated those who served in the 1939-1945 war.
- On Tth August 1917 Captain ‘Gus’ Bonner (188U-195V) earned the Victoria Cross for conspicuous gallantry in action against an enemy submarine.
- Nearby Aldridge Parish Church has a notice board by its gateway. W is the number of dome-headed bolts (visible from the front) holding it together.
- There is a date 19Y5 on the wind vane on the top of the church tower.
The cache location is: N 52° AB.CDE, W 001° FG.HIJ
Where:
- A = T – R
- B = W – V
- C = (R – U) x (T – W)
- D = V + W
- E = P – U
- F = ½ of (P + V)
- G = U x V
- H = ½ of (T + W + Y)
- I = P - T
- J = (P – R) ÷ U
The cache is a 35mm film canister – please replace it so that it is well out of sight.
