Geocache Description:

A small series of caches on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal (L&LC) between Shipley and Apperley Bridge.

Esholt sewage treatment plant was built to replace the one in Frizinghall which had became overloaded, with no room for expansion. In 1906, the council purchased the Esholt Estate for over £239,000 and constructed a massive sewage works, finishing it in the1920's

These pipes are only in use in times of high rainfall where the overflow of effluent is much diluted with rain water.
