Utfarten från Torslanda brandstation är en perfekt plats för denna cache. Med lite tur så kanske ni får se brankåren svischa förbi för att försvinna i fjärran.

Brandbilen Som Försvann (1969) är den femte boken i serien Roman om ett brott som skrevs av författarduon Sjövall/Wahlöö.

Sjöwall/Wahlöö var ett internationellt känt svenskt författarpar, som författade tio polisromaner i serien Roman om ett brott med förste kriminalassistenten (senare kriminalkommissarien och chefen för riksmordkommissionen) Martin Beck som huvudperson.

Handling
När Gunvald Larsson tillfälligt löser av en polis som spanar på ett hus, exploderar huset plötsligt. Larsson försöker rädda dem som befinner sig i huset medan den andre polisen ringer brandkåren. Den brandtekniska undersökningen och Fredrik Melander upptäcker dock att en person redan var död när branden började och att det var självmord med hjälp av gas. Men både Martin Beck och Larsson undrar vad som antände gasen och vart den brandbil som sändes ut hamnade. Då visar det sig att självmordet i själva verket var ett mord.

The Fire Engine That Disappeared (1969) is a novel by Sjöwall and Wahlöö
Maj Sjövall and Per Wahlöö were a common law husband and wife team of detective writers from Sweden. Together they conceived and wrote a series of ten novels (police procedurals) about the exploits of detectives from the special homicide commission of the national police in which the character of Martin Beck was the main protagonist.

Plot summary
A housefire, which kills three people, was about to be written off as the result of a tenant's gas suicide when a forensics officer discovers a firebomb in the rubble that would have certainly killed the tenant had he not killed himself. Beck and his team launch a manhunt for the tenant's partner-in-crime, but are perplexed when the partner-in-crime is found dead at the bottom of the sea.
