Above the Armstrong Tunnel Traditional Cache
Bingers247: May put another cache in this ones place, but for now I will go ahead and archive it. Went there today to check on it and didn't find it. It has grown up a lot in the area and where the cache was hidden caved in. I am super sad but think it had a good run. =)

Don't go from the bottom. It is above the tunnel.
Ever since I was a young girl I remember going through this tunnel. I would just go crazy over it when my mom would drive through. This place has very several different memories to me, so I thought my first cache should be in the area.
The Armstroung Tunnel was built in 1902, but in 1921 was abandoned my Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad. It has orginated as two tunnels. Charles Hensley of St Albans was in charge of the new tunnel, that was about 100 feet to the west, and is where it was completed.
Julius Evans, an old settler from the area bought the tunnel from C&O for $2000, which was later given to the county for use as a road tunnel. It is 480 feet long and goes under Lower Falls Rd, a few miles from the city.
In the end the name of the tunnel came from the landoweners names. The land was owned by the Armstrongs.
Just thought a little history of the area might be interesting. Happy Hunting!
