Phangnga Town is a nice and quiet place in the south of Thailand, often only visited by foreigners to go to James Bond Island. In town there are nice places that are worth a visit.
This is a set of 4 caches in town.
Each cache will bring you to another unique point that is almost unvisited. Each site has its own cache.
North: ‘City Pillar’
West: ‘Lang Bart ancient pagoda ‘
South: ‘Elephant Mountain’
East: ‘Rock art’
This is cache 'SOUTH'
Khao chang is the star atraction of numerous limestone mountain ranges and it is represented in the Provincial emblem of Phangnga.
The legend tells us that a farmer killed a domestic elephant by mistake. He thought it was one of the wild elephants that trappeled on his crop. The elephant was peared and lay dead at the present site of Khao Chang.
You can read more on the several boards in this area.
The place is a small park like area. You can take a trip inside the elephant mountain with nice stalagtites and stalagmites. However, this trip has a fee.... But, the area alone is worth a visit. There are also a temple and some places just onder the rocks to visit. A Buddha feet is reperesented on a slightly higher place and there you could find the cache. However, I had to replace the cache because of 'mugglers' or monkeys that took the cache away...
A nice place to visit with children too.
Wheelchairs can not reach the cache, but not to big problems in the area with some help..
