Geocache Description:

Party at the Moon Tower #9
East 11th and Lydia Street

Once a popular form of lighting in the US and Europe, Austin is now home to the only remaining moonlight towers in the world. Between 1894 and 1895 there were 31 moon towers erected in Austin. The original carbon arc lamps used illuminated a circle approximately 3,000 feet in diameter with a blue-white light (The towers now use 6,400-watt mercury vapor bulbs). Sadly, just 15 moon towers remain today. They are now designated as official state archeological landmarks and are listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

This moon tower cache is located in a cool part of East Austin that has really changed a lot over the years. Nearby is a historic blues venue, the State Cemetery, the Texas Music Museum and a number of great stores.

The cache should be a very quick grab. Bring your own pen.

There will be a lot of mugglers during certain times because of the bus stop. Use extreme stealth. You may also get some bounce from all the concrete and steel around GZ but should still be easy enough.

Congrads to SoftScienceOfficer! FTF!!

Thanks to Chemist Kahuna for the maintenance.
