Geocache Description:

Pleasant stroll to a lovely fir in spring, summer and autumn. A touch of magic during the festive season. Sorry the nearby car park has shut so parking is in small laybys and gate ways now.

This 'Magic Christmas Tree' was shown to me by my little girl's lovely Godmother Carole. During the season of goodwill the local dog walkers decorate this tree for Christmas, much to the delight of the local childminders and their children. My own kids were thrilled when they first saw it a few years ago. Apparently the tradition was started by a family to honour a family member who loved both Christmas and to walk her dog here. I'm sorry I don't have more details but I was touched by the story and thought it would be nice to share. I notice now that the tree has grown so large that another smaller tree is being decorated instead. Take care crossing the busy road. After visiting the cache you can walk on past or round the reservoirs to see the herons (can be muddy - wellies required) then back to the road which you cross just slightly up from the car park. Please Note: This is a Military Training Area on which live firing and other pyrotechnics may be used. The area is generally open public access. One of the safety rules for public access is:- Do not, (and ensure that children do not) approach, touch or pick up any metal objects lying on the ground. Please obey all byelaws and locally posted information concerning times when the area may be closed. These may be physical barriers, flags or lights
