This is a place of hidden history. All the "residents" have taken their family history with them to tell around the kitchen tables somewhere higher or lower. No museum or archival society have the keys to this historical land.
You do not need to go inside, however after you sign the log go inside- the residents would I am sure enjoy you sitting on the bench for a little chat or thermos of coffee.
This lovely spot of land came off of Jake Bolton’s place. It was purchased by the Tappen Womens Institute in 1922. It was fertile farm land with not many rocks and for the time considered higher ground. There is a small history group that gives thanks to Rosemary who cuts the grass and keeps track of inhabitants in partnership with Nick Snoek.
The first to drink his ghostly spirits here was Mr. I.R.Reilly, d/1916,moved from Salmon Arm to Tappen Cemetery 1934.
Who was he and was this place made just to suit his families needs?
