Geocache Description:


The Grand River has been a defining element of western Michigan since it was first settled. No where has this been more apparent than in Grand Rapids itself. The city is built around, and through the river, yet we almost take for granted the path that it takes.

What would it be like to see the Grand River before we had tamed it with easy passage? There are many bridges over the Grand that we take for granted, many we do not even know exist.

The task in this wherigo cartridge is to explore a few bridges over the river. You will begin at the start location for the cartridge. Your task is to travel over bridges on the Grand River between Fulton Street in Ada, to Fulton Street in downtown Grand Rapids.

Starting at the bridge in Ada, you will proceed to the next downriver bridge on the Grand, and on to each after that, until you again arrive at Fulton Street, only this time in downtown Grand Rapids.

You do not need to go over Highway bridges or Operational Train Bridges. If you travel over a bridge and do not see a message, chances are you missed a bridge in between. Visit the bridges, perhaps reflect on the vital link they serve, and then find the geocache at the end.
