Dis-jointed Traditional Cache
juxtapoz: No problems with this cache for eight years then three disappear in eight weeks. The nature of the cache gives me pause for thought. Maintenance, then, has become an expensive disheartening chore. So it's time to pack it in.

A quiet village just off the main Wye Valley road,flat ground making the area wheel chair friendly.Please bring a pen or pencil.
The village of St Arvans boasts 2 claims to fame:-
Firstly - The origins of its parish church dates back to the monastery of St Kingsmark in 1254 . But the circular nature of the churchyard points to a celtic foundation.
The church is named for a ninth century hermit,St Arvan,who supported himself by fishing for salmon in the river Wye,drowning when his coracle capsized!
The original norman church was enlarged between 1813 and 1823, the octagonal tower being added in 1820.
Secondly - In the 1890`s Monmouthshire County Council installed drinking fountains throughout the county. St Arvan`s residents raised £30 for a special fountain,duly opened in 1893.Water was delivered by pressing taps at the cherub`s bases and flowing from the urns they held. A dispenser for animals was also included in the construction.
The last millenium brought about renevation, to reveal a true working example of a Victorian fountain.
The cache is easily accessed and is a micro with a difference - I hope! The contents consist of a log only.
