This cache is located near a street named after William (Bill) R. Richardson.

"He had a couple of stints as County Engineer. He was City Engineer during the Miller administration. He worked at a couple of local construction companies. He was a doer - not much for wasting time for things that nobody wanted done. Bristled at red tape. He ran and lost a Mayoral primary election. He was appointed Sheriff to complete the term of an incumbent who resigned in scandal. He served a couple of years as Sheriff and was running to be elected when he was diagnosed with colon cancer and died very suddenly.

Bill was a joy to be with. His favorite spot to eat in Indianapolis was Acapulco Joe's. It was always fun to stop there with him for lunch and sing "God Bless America" to a Kate Smith recording at noon. There are many people who could regale you with stories. R.J. (Bob) Richardson (no relation) was his Assistant County Engineer. They saw things alike on most matters.

Bill and his wife had a very large family - six children.

The place where the cache is hidden had not been annexed to the City, yet, when the Industrial Foundation developed the Toll Road Industrial Park. That was underway at or shortly after Bill's death. The County chose to honor Bill by naming the street for him."

The facts listed above were quoted from Carl Littrell, South Bend City Engineer, with the help of Mary Ann Myers.

Happy caching!
