Geocache Description:

FROM FARM TO SUBURB...!
A CACHE TO HONOUR A PLANNING REVOLUTION...

GRANGE FARM

In 1915 the SA Government purchased Grange Farm from the Mortlock Family Estate, to establish a model, creative 'Garden Suburb' in a growing city.

World War 1 intervened and this entire area became an Army Training Camp for some years after.

By 1920 however, the model Garden Suburb plan ( Colonel Light Gardens) was back on track and by the late 20's it was reported as 'complete'.

This suburb has retained so much of its inovative, novel planning and originanity that in 1990 it achieved State Heritage status.
