Polonezköy is a village in the Asian side of Istanbul, located about 40 km far away from Istanbul's historical center. Its name translates "Polish village" in Turkish. The Polish name of the village is Adampol.

The village was founded in 1856 by Polish settlers who sought refuge in Turkey after the invasion of Poland. Although not all people of the village is of the same ethnicity anymore, the majority of the population of the village is still of Polish descent and retain the Polish language.

The village is located inside the forests and declared a “nature park” in 1996 >br>
In order to get in the village from Istanbul’s European side, first cross the Second Bosphorus Bridge (officially called Fatih Sultan Mehmet Köprüsü), After crossing the bridge, leave the motorway in the first exit, first follow the “Beykoz” signs, after you have totally left the motorway behind, follow the “Polonezköy” signs you’ll see in every junction.

Polonezköy is full of restaurants, small hotels and there are various possibilities for various sports. There is also a beautiful hiking trail (http://www.everytrail.com/view_trip.php?trip_id=630428 . We hid a box near a small open area (adjacent to a small water stream) alongside the trail. The box was placed in a cavity of a stump and the cavity was covered by stones and wooden pieces. The box contains, in addition to regular stuff like pencil, log-book, etc, several blue glass "nazar"s against evil-eyes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evil_eye). These nazars will not only protect you from bad eyes but they will bring you good luck if you keep them with you. A logical benefit of these beads is herefore to increase your FTF rate :)

My favorite restaurant in this village is Leonardo [N41 06.615 E029 12.727]. You may visit this nice restaurant for a regular meal or for some refreshers (I have no affiliation whatsoever with Leonardo)

Dogayla basbasa, sehrin gürültüsünden uzak bir pazar sabahi... Keyifli bir kahvalti... Dogada bir yürüyüs...Yemyesil kirlar... Yanibasinizda sirin mi sirin bir köy... Haftasonu kaçamaklari için iyi bir alternatif: Polonezköy .

1842'de Polonya isgal edilip paylasilinca, Prens Adam Czartoryski sürgünde bulundugu Paris'ten bagimsizlik için mücadele baslatir. 1856'da Osmanli Kirim Savasi'na girerken, Polonya'dan kaçan asker ve sivilleri toparlayip Osmanliyla birlikte savasa katilir. Savas sonrasinda Sultan Abdülmecit simdiki Polonezköy'ün bulundugu topraklara yerlesim izni verir. Aslen Polonyali olup, sonradan Osmanli olan Mehmet Sadik Pasa kendi yazlik çiftliginin bulundugu bu köyde yerlesime ön ayak olur. Böylece Polonyalilar burada yasamaya baslarlar. Çevreyi kendi anlayislarina göre düzenleyen, kendi mimari anlayislari ile evler kuran göçmenler, Padisah Abdülmecit'in tarimsal üretimlerini vergiden muaf tutmasinin da etkisiyle bir daha ülkelerine dönmezler.

Bugün Polonezköy'de kirk kisisi düzgün Lehçe konusan bin kisi yasiyor ve Polonezköy, ulasim imkânlari, cografî konumu ve güzel manzaralari sayesinde bir tarim köyünden tatil köyüne dönüsmüs durumda. Köyde Zofia Rizi Ani Evi (Ryzy ailesine ait eski ve yeni fotograflar, kitaplar, belgeler, orijinal iç mekân.) ve Czestochova Meryem Ana Kilisesi ziyaret edilebilir. Polonezköydeki bahçe içindeki lokantalari, çevreyle ve geleneksel mimariyle uyumlu yapilmis küçük ama otel kalitesinde pansiyonlari, birçok aktivitenin birlikte gerçeklestirilebilecegi konforlu tesisler yaninda, orman içinde 4 km uzunlugunda çok güzel bir yürüyüs parkuru da bulunuyor. Bu yürüyüs parkuru üzerinde, bir agaç kütügünün dibindeki bir kovuga bir kutu sakladik. Kovugu tas ve tahta parçalari ile örttük. Kutu içinde, kalem, kayit defteri gibi klasik ögeler yaninda, ilk bulanlara sans getirecek (yani sizi çok sayida FTF sahibi yapacak :) mavi nazar boncuklari var. Kutuyu bulduktan sonra, kendinize ödül olarak Leonardo Restoran'da bir yemek ismarlamanizi öneriyorum. [N41 06.615 E029 12.727]
