This Urban Cache (visit link) for a description of an Urban Cache) is located on Harrison Avenue in Cary with parking very nearby.
Traffic lights are amazing devices that we see in so many places that we just take them for granted. These signals have now all gotten very smart over the years and time themselves based on the time of day, traffic conditions and pedestrian traffic telling us when to walk and don't walk. All this technology does not come cheap though. The controller — or the computer brains of the contraption — alone can cost over $9,000. The signal and pedestrian heads can cost over $13,000. There are many other categories that can influence the cost such as construction, cable, the traffic signals’ back plates, and the magnetic loops in the road that can run the cost over $20,000 in construction materials and labor. This is all just something to think about while you are hunting this cache or waiting at a red light (or is there a hint in here somewhere?).
It will be best if you don’t hunt this one on Sunday mornings due to a church in close proximity or between 3-6 PM on business days due to a nearby school dismissal and because a large software company nearby releases at this time so there will be a lot of traffic stopped at the light. If you do hunt this one and make the find while someone is waiting on the stop light, walk away or even take the cache back to your car to sign the log so whoever would have seen you assumes that you are leaving with it. Then slyly replace it when they are gone and no one is looking.
For safety reasons, do not go on the street or beyond the sidewalk as you will not have to go on the roadway to find this cache as I assure you it is not there. This cache is in plain sight and does NOT require any disassembly of anything, unscrew anything, open any panels or require you to take anything apart. Please be respectful of the area.
Lastly, as with all caches, please place the cache back exactly as you found it in the exact same location you found it so that this hide is just as challenging for the next hunter. This cache will require you to bring your own pen for signing. Did I mention to NOT to destroy anything here so that anybody passing through won’t even know geocachers are interested in this location?
