Geocache Description:

?The gate where the key hung over the way following the lighthouse, but You can enter at the side and can go without a hindrance to a cachepoint.

February 1917, The Katsuura lighthouse was built at "Himeyuri no oka"
The sunrise to watch from the hill is the best part.

※灯台へ続く道には鍵の掛かった門がありますが、門の脇から入ってキャッシュポイントまで行くことができます。

勝浦灯台は大正６年３月、海抜７０メートルの「ひらめヶ丘」に建設、点灯されました。
燈高２１メートル、光度１４万燭光で、丘から見る日の出は圧巻です。
第二次世界大戦末期の昭和２０年2月25日から終戦の8月15日までの間、20数回にわたり、米海軍艦載機の襲撃を受け、灯台と当時、この構内にあった宿舎に相当な被害のあったことが記録されていま。
その後、数回にわたり機器の改良が行われ、昭和58年3月に、タイル貼りの灯塔に改造されたのが、現在の灯台です。
