Geocache Description:

This cache is located on near the Pali Lookout, as you depart the parking lot headed toward Kailua. It is within 10 feet of the road, so there is minimal hiking involved. But, be careful near the cache as the terrain drops off substantially.

The cache is a plastic tupperware style container about 10" x 6". Numerous small items are already in the cache as well as three travel bugs.

Be sure to take some time to enjoy the view from the Pali Lookout just up the hill from the cache. On a clear day with the sun high in the sky, this is one of the best views in all of the Hawaiian Islands.

Legend claims the Pali Lookout as the location of King Kamehameha the Great's last battle. The story alleges that in 1795, Kamehameha pursued Oahu's warriors up Nuuanu to these cliffs and waged a battle in his attempt to unite the Hawaiian islands. Supposedly, the Oahu warriors were driven over the cliffs by Kamehameha's men. Some say the battle never happened, some say it happened but with only a few men fighting, and some say thousands were forced over the cliff, plunging to their deaths. Others say at night you can still hear the cries of these long-dead warriors coming from the valley below. So be alert!
